Feel the California sun warm your face at the same time as it tickles your tongue with Chardonnay-grape infused bubbles. Red, White and everything in between, there’s something for everyone in Sonoma!
Our Classic “San Francisco Wine Country Tour” highlights San Francisco’s closest wine region, including the charming and historic Sonoma Square and breathtaking landscapes of the Petaluma Gap wine growing region.
Just a stone’s throw from San Francisco, Sonoma is a known for its gorgeous scenery, world class wine and unpretentious elegance. This area boasts old-world viticultural heritage and some of California’s oldest wineries, right alongside rising stars and forward thinking entrepreneurs.
Sonoma County offers unparalleled diversity in viticulture. The varied landscapes and cool maritime climate encourage wine makers to experiment with robust portfolios of differing varietals- from bold ruby reds to the most crisp effervescent whites. If you’re looking for “California Champagne” and Pinot Noir especially, this is your new home away from home. San Francisco’s closest wine country incorporates both the Sonoma and Napa AVAs within it borders, making it an incredibly dynamic wine destination.
During our 75 minute drive from SF, we’ll cross the Golden Gate Bridge to a countryside that feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of the City.
Together we’ll experience full tastings at two of our favorite properties. Enjoy the laid-back vibe, and sip in relaxed-elegant surroundings. Hear from expert wine makers what motivates them and makes our bottles stand apart from the rest of the world.
Between tasting “flights” we’ll make time to experience the heart of Sonoma. No visit to Sonoma is complete without a visit to the Sonoma Square Plaza, the largest plaza in California. Take time to explore, window shop and dine amid the eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. We particularly enjoy the hand crafted ice cream and artisan chocolatiers tucked away in romantic passages– we’ll be sure to show you all our favorite secret spots! Step back in time as you enter an original Spanish Pueblo, located on the site of the Mission San Francisco Solano de Sonoma. History lovers will be thoroughly amused by the story of California’s rebirth during the 1846 Bear Flag Revolt!
At the end of the day, bask in the afterglow (and possibly rosé cheeks!) of a leisurely day well spent. We invite you to sit back and relax as we retrace our steps along the scenic highways and byways back to San Francisco.
AN INDULGENT UPGRADE: Elevate your experience even further. Allow us to arrange an exclusive food and wine-pairing luncheon at one of our favorite local properties. Each bite of your meal will be designed by the chef to perfectly compliment the wines featured in your tasting. Your “Spark Ambassador” and our winemaker’s team will host this experience, personally guiding you through the pairings, in a way that is multi-sensory, fun and completely accessible. Zero intimidation here! Our core philosophy is that wine AND food are meant to be enjoyed, never feared! Weather permitting, this sumptuous meal and experience could take place outdoors on the garden terrace, out among the vines, or in a historic dining room.
To inquire, please contact us immediately following your booking, and we’ll work with our team to confirm availability for your preferred date. If you see a date that is not currently not available on our calendar, send us an email, as we may be able to work a little magic!
Tasting fees are not included in the Spark Experience price. We make all the arrangements for you, based on our your personal tastes and our expertise, so fees will vary based on your needs (and we’d never want you to overpay by charging some preset amount). Some properties may require tasting fees paid in advance (which we are happy to do), if not, tasting fees may be payable to the property at time of service. We’ll advise you what to expect, negotiate on your behalf and work with your budget as needed. Typically fees in Sonoma county range from $25-75 per person, which is a wonderful value compared to their cousins in Napa Valley. Similarly, restaurant meals are also payable at time of service.
This is OUR Classic Sonoma experience, particularly ideal for first time visitors or those looking for a fun, unpretentious introduction to wine country. If you are a repeat visitor or seeking a deeper-dive, we also offer Local’s Secret Sonoma County Wine Experience, which features a full day (8+hrs) in the more remote areas of Glen Ellen, Moon Mountain and Kenwood.
Many wineries limit their tasting rooms to guests 21 years and older. If you’d like to include minor children, please contact us. We’ll happily customize an experience just for your family!
